Sie arbeitete viele Jahre in deutschen Verlagen. 2006/07 verffentlichte sie eine Anthologie ber Mobbing und Gewalt in der deutschen Jugendliteratur und schrieb ein Lehrerhandbuch dazu (Studentlitteratur Verlag/Lund). Zudem verfasste sie fr die Schule des Schreibens in Hamburg einen Lehrgang ber Kinder und Jugendliteratur. Seit 2001 lebt Hiltrud Baier in Schweden. Sie hlt Vortrge zum Thema deutsche Literatur, sie bersetzt aus dem Schwedischen und vor allem hlt sie seit vielen Jahren Vortrge ber das Land Schweden und dessen Bewohner.
