Das aktuelle Problem der Erneuerung alter Stadtkerne und unzureichender Wohn gebiete beschaftigt die Offentlichkeit in zunehmendem MaBe. Die stadtischen Be harden und i.hre Fachleute wissen jedoch, welche Schwierigkeiten sich jedem Schritt auf diesem Wege entgegenstellen. Eines der schwierigsten Hindernisse zur Bereinigung der immer komplizierter werdenden Situation in den Zentren unserer Stadte ist dabei die Vielfalt der Grundbesitzverhaltnisse. Es ist daher erfreulich, daB die wissenschaftlichen Hochschulen diesem Problem ihre Aufmerksamkeit wid men und zu dessen objektiver Losung beitragen wollen. Dabei erweist sich die Darlegung der Vielfalt dieser Besitzverhaltnisse deshalb als besonders eindrucksvoll, weil dadurch deutlich wird, mit welcher Fulle von Einzelinteressen und Anteilbesitzern gerechnet werden muB, wenn Stadterneue rungsoder SanierungsmaBnahmen verwirklicht werden sollen. Ich danke daher der Osterreichischen Gesellschaft fUr Raumforschungund Raum planung, daB sie di,e am Institut fUr Stadtebau, Raumplanung und Raumordnung an der Technischen Hochschule Wien betreute Dissertation gefordert und der Offent lichkeit zuganglich gemacht hat. Dies hat auch den vom 1. Oktober 1967 bis 31. Juli 1971 an diesem Institut als Hochschulassistent tatigen Dipl.Ing. Dr. Klaus R. Kunzmann bewogen, sein Dissertationsthema aus diesem Bereich des Stadtebaues zu wahlen, zumal von fruheren Studienarbeiten wichtige, aber noch nicht ausgewertete Unterlagen vor handen waren.
