Parallel Operating Systems with Windows and Linux introduces the key features of computer operating systems. It assumes that the students have previously used a personal computer with the Windows or Linux operating systems. This text uses a unique approach for the presentation of operating system concepts. Each concept will first be presented conceptually. Then the concepts will be demonstrated on both of the two operating systems in parallel. This parallel structure will be enabled by using Microsoft Virtual PC 2004. Students will be able to instantly switch between the two operating systems to complete the numerous handson activities.

I was excited to read this guide, but it seems to lack updates that reflect current Linux distributions. Some commands and processes are outdated, and it made my installation a bit tricky. Needs a refresh for the current tech environment!

Great resource for dual-boot setups
I picked up this guide to help me with dual-booting Windows XP and Linux on my older laptop. The instructions were straightforward and really helped me understand the parallel operating systems. If you're looking to manage both systems, this book is a must-have!

Detailed and informative
As a newbie to Linux, I found this guide really informative. The comparisons between Windows XP and Linux were great for understanding each OS's strengths. I appreciated the step-by-step walkthroughs for installation and troubleshooting. Great resource!

Great for tech-savvy users
I bought this book expecting basics, but it's really for those who have some technical background. The author dives deep into system configuration, which was a bit overwhelming for me as a casual user. But if you're into tech, it’s a solid guide!

Helpful but a bit outdated
This book has some useful tips on running Windows XP alongside Linux, but keep in mind it's a bit dated. Some sections felt less relevant with newer Linux distros, but it still provided good foundational knowledge. Just be prepared to do a little extra research.
