Gus Grissom learned to fly airplanes during his stint in the army. He became a leading fighter pilot in the Korean War, was a test pilot, and would soon take his place in NASAs first generation of astronauts in its pioneering pursuit of space travel. His story ended in fiery tragedy in a launchpad explosion. This fascinating, inspiring, and ultimately tragic life story is told in compelling detail, accompanied by fullcolor NASA photographs.

The story of Apollo 1 is fascinating, and I liked some parts of the book. However, I felt like it could’ve gone deeper into Grissom's life outside of the mission. Still worth a read if you're into astronaut biographies!

Packaging Issues Upon Arrival
I received this biography quickly, but the packaging was a bit dented, which affected the book cover. The content itself is solid, but I wish it had arrived in better shape. Just be cautious if you're gifting it!

Not What I Expected
I was looking forward to a detailed account of the Apollo 1 mission but found some parts dragged on. It’s decent, but I was hoping for more technical insights. It might be better for casual readers than hardcore fans.

Gus Grissom's story is both inspiring and heartbreaking. I appreciated how the author portrayed the personal and professional challenges he faced. It’s a touching tribute to his legacy in space travel!

Engaging and Well-Written
I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Gus Grissom. The storytelling style made it easy to follow along, even for someone like me who's not an expert on space history. Definitely a great addition to any astronaut biography collection!
