Die wichtigsten Fragen betreffen dabei die sich verndernden Identitten sowohl der kolonisierten als auch der kolonisierenden Menschen unserer Zeit. Diese Identittsfrage wurde im Zusammenhang mit der Frage nach dem Geschlecht und der ethnischen Zugehrigkeit diskutiert. Es ist offensichtlich, dass die Charaktere der zweiten Einwanderergeneration in Kureishis Script fr den Film 'Mein wunderbarer Waschsalon' gleich dem Autor mit dem Problem der inbetweens'. Sie suchen verschiedene Wege wie Homosexualitt oder falling between cultures', um mit diesem Dazwischensein' umzugehen. Im Unterschied dazu betrachtet sich die erste Generation von Einwanderern als zweifelsfrei pakistanisch, was sich bei objektiverer Betrachtung als gar nicht so zweifelsfrei erwiesen hat. Ein weiteres Phnomen der postkolonialen Zeit ist die Umkehrung der Beziehungen zwischen 'Schwarzen' und 'Weien'. Die ehemaligen Sklaven werden nun Herren, welche die Weien' fr sich arbeiten lassen. Auerdem beeinflussen die Immigranten die Kultur der ehemals Kolonisierenden mit ihrer eigenen schwarzen Kultur und assimilieren sich insofern in die weie Kultur wie es Vorteile fr sie bietet besonders im konomischen Bereich. In Deutschland sind postkoloniale Studien noch nicht weit verbreitet. Der grte Teil der Literatur ist nicht auf Deutsch erhltlich, aber der zuknftige Einfluss der postkolonialen Studien auf die Analyse moderner und postmoderner Texte in unserer multikulturellen Welt wird interessant zu beobachten sein.
