Delivery time: 8-12 business days (International)
Product Description Military service has long been viewed as the steadied model of leadership. Those whove answered that call, yesteryear to current times, from old soldier to modernday warrior, have carried on this institutions ultimate mission to support and defend freedom. Then what can we, as leaders, learn from this model for dealing with todays mission challenges, uniquely gleaning lessons from the life of an old soldier? For the late retired Command Sergeant Major, Vietnam Vet, Ranger Hall of Fame inductee and the Honorable Harris L. Parker, his oldest niece and fellow army veteran Deborah L. Parker approves his timeless message of leadership. Ensuring that he has not faded away, she honors the achievements of her late uncle, lovingly known as Hardcore to his family, with these eleven powerful lessons for those who find themselves in charge at work, in their community, or at home. Reporting on her uncles service to his country and family as well as in leadership positions for their native Virginia county of Sussex, Parker overlays his noted wisdom, courage and vision with practical strategies to start your own leadership campaign. Weaving in takeaways from her work and personal experiences in leadership development through her company The DPJ Training Group, Parker, also a retired reserve Lieutenant Colonel, has put together a thoughtprovoking book packed with memorable teaching anecdotes. Inspiring and informative in saluting her uncles biographical legacy, she makes the case for us all in Hardcores words, to press on. About the Author Deborah L. Parker is Chief Inspirer and Principal Consultant of The DPJ Training Group, a motivational speaking, leadership and personal development company based in the Metropolitan Washington DC area. For over fifteen years she has provided numerous workshops and coaching programs for federal, Department of Defense and private sector clients. Viewing herself as someone who uses the wits and gifts God gave her to be of service, Deborah helps others grow professionally and personally into their next season. Building on a career life that has taken her to positions as a social worker, Army reserve officer, corporate manager, and now entrepreneur and author, Deborah understands what it means to lead and make a change, sometimes the hard way. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from the College of William and Mary and an M.A. in Human Resources from George Mason University. And in Life Is a Review: Observations and Collections of My Passages Through the Times, released in June of 2012, she invites readers to browse her twentyfiveyear compilation of essays, blogs, speeches, and poems around family, career, history and relationships. And in October 2012, Deborah released For People of Strength, Soul, and Spirit: Seven Guidelines for Life & Career Success, a work she revised from 1996 that robustly offers a platform for goal achievement through historical context of the African American experience. Staying connected in the community, Deborah is a member of Military Officers Association of America, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Metro DC Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development, and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon Virginia.
