Hatchery Management is a broad applied field of Zoology which includes the improved production management system of fishes to earn profits by applying innovative science and business management skills. Among the most significant advancements in the field of Hatchery Management during the recent decades is the development of techniques to induce reproduction in fishes. Induced breeding is a process where the fishes, which do not breed in the closed water bodies but if some stimulants or hormones or pituitary extracts are injected in the brood fishes, will cause the fishes to breed. There are fewer works available on the fish hatchery status of Bangladesh. Hence, the hatchery management and induced spawning of carps and cat fishes as practiced in the northwestern region of Bangladesh was evaluated and this book carries the present status and management of 15 public and 15 private hatcheries of 12 districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions of the country.
