Zunchst wird die Konstituierung des Textes, durch einen Vergleich verschiedener deutschsprachiger bersetzungen und eine kontextuelle Abgrenzung der Perikope vom gesamten Markusevangelium, vorgenommen. Des Weiteren schliet sich die synchrone Analyse an, bei der syntaktische und semantische, sowie narrative Strukturen der Erzhlung analysiert werden. Die diachrone Analyse versucht daraufhin den Entstehungsprozess der Erzhlung nher zu betrachten und verwendet dazu die Literarkritik, den synoptischen Vergleich, die Gattungsanalyse, Traditions und Redaktionskritik. Durch dieses methodische Vorgehen soll versucht werden, den Text als Ganzes zu verstehen und einen Verbesserten Zugang zum Sinn und zur Aussageabsicht des Textes zu ermglichen.
