I've been using the HELM Identification Guides for quite a while, and this one on shrikes is top-notch. It really helped me distinguish between woodshrikes and helmetshrikes during my last birding trip. The illustrations are clear, and the information is super detailed!

Informative but missing a few species
This guide covers many shrikes, but I noticed it doesn't include some regional varieties that I expected. The content is well-researched, though, and I found it helpful for identifying common ones in my area. Just a minor disappointment!

Perfect for field identification!
This guide is fantastic for anyone looking to identify shrikes in the field. The images are sharp, and the descriptions are concise yet informative. Took it with me on a recent birdwatching trip and it really enhanced the experience!

Not for casual bird lovers
I picked up this HELM guide thinking it would be an easy read, but it goes into quite a bit of detail that might be too much for someone just starting with birding. If you're really into shrikes, you'll appreciate it, but I found it a bit hard to digest.

Nice guide but a bit dense
Honestly, the shrikes and bushshrikes guide is packed with info, which can be great, but it felt a bit overwhelming at times. I wish the layout was a little easier to navigate. Still, it's a useful resource for serious birders!
