Dieser Band bringt zwei Hauptstrmungen der Philosophie des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts zusammen: die Phnomenologie, wie sie von Edmund Husserl begrndet und v.a. von Martin Heidegger als hermeneutische Phnomenologie fortgesetzt wurde, und die Hermeneutik, namentlich in der Ausformung durch HansGeorg Gadamer. Beiden Strmungen kommt eine magebliche Rolle in der Positionierung von Philosophie und Geisteswissenschaften zu, die sich beide dem Anspruch der naturwissenschaftlichen Theoriebildung gegenber sehen. Die fr das 19. und 20. Jahrhundert charakteristische Konfrontation von humanistischem und naturwissenschaftlichem Bildungsanspruch hat sich als wenig zielfhrend erwiesen; es geht nun vielmehr darum, die Geisteswissenschaften und die Philosophie in den Dialog der Disziplinen zurckzufhren und dabei ihre integrative Rolle gerade fr einen solchen Dialog zu dokumentieren.
