Coleman' soll ein noch heute allgegenwrtiges und fr unser Zusammenleben gewichtiges Phnomen, nmlich das der Herrschaft' nher beleuchtet werden. Es ist augenfllig, dass das heute eher ungern verwendete Wort Herrschaft' viele Lebensbereiche beeinflusst und eine gewisse Regelung des sozialen Zusammenlebens erst ermglicht. Egal, ob man sich die betrieblichen Strukturen in groen Wirtschaftsorganisationen und Unternehmen, das familire Gefge im privaten Umfeld oder klassische administrative Institutionen und Staatsformen ansieht, das Vorhandensein gewisser Herrschaftsverhltnisse wird oftmals als so genannte anthropologische Konstante des menschlichen Daseins betrachtet. Hieraus ergibt sich zudem auch der ungebrochene Aktualittsanspruch der gesamten Herrschaftssoziologie. Im Folgenden soll der Versuch unternommen werden, Herrschaft' besonders im Hinblick auf seine gesellschaftliche Funktion als legitimer Ordnungsmechanismus und deren spezifische Legitimittsgrnde eingehender zu untersuchen. Dabei werden bewusst exemplarisch die herrschaftssoziologischen berlegungen zweier besonders bedeutsamer Soziologen, einmal in Form von Max Weber als Vertreter eines normativ institutionellen Herrschaftsbegriffes und James S. Coleman andererseits als Vertreter des Rationalprogrammes nher behandelt. Nach einer kurzen Abgrenzung des Herrschaftsbegriffes von anderen in diesem Kontext soziologisch bedeutsamen Begriffen, wie dem der Macht' oder der Gewalt', schliet sich jeweils eine Abhandlung ber das Leben der obig erwhnten Vertreter sowie deren spezifischen Herrschaftstypologien an.
