I picked up 'Surprised to be a Pilgrim' after hearing great things about the author. The way Christopher Reid writes about the journey is both enlightening and entertaining. It's a nice addition to my contemporary literature collection from Everyman's Library! Highly recommend for anyone curious about travel and introspection.

As someone who loves travel literature, I was excited to dive into this book. It's beautifully written, but the focus on introspection was heavier than I anticipated. Not a bad read, just not what I thought it would be. The cover art is stunning too!

While I enjoyed 'Surprised to be a Pilgrim', I found some sections dragged on a bit. Reid's insights are fascinating, but I wished for a quicker pace. Still, the book offers a lovely exploration of a pilgrimage, and the quality of the Everyman's Library edition is fantastic!
