The book is written in an attractive narrative style and is packed with information and coloured photographs covering the more secluded and little known venues for food, accommodation and places of interest as well as the more enduring attractions of the county. The cover features eyecatching photographs of Batemans near Burwash, chalk cliffs near Beachy Head and Alfriston on the South Downs.

I loved the idea of this book and the hidden spots it covers in Sussex. However, I felt some locations could have had more historical context or tips. Still, it was enjoyable to read and sparked my interest in exploring more off-the-beaten-path areas.

I was a bit disappointed with this book. Some areas mentioned were not as hidden as I thought, and I was hoping for more unique finds. The writing is decent, but I expected more depth. It’s nice but not what I hoped for in a travel guide.

This book on Sussex is a delightful find! The illustrations and descriptions of the lesser-known spots are just beautiful. I took it on my recent trip, and it led me to places I would have never discovered on my own. Definitely worth adding to your travel library!
