Die Idee der hierarchischen Produktionsplanung (HPP) besteht in der hierarchischen Zerlegung der Planungsaufgabe in relativ leicht lsbare Teilaufgaben, die durch Kopplungen verknpft zu einer mglichst guten Lsung der Gesamtplanungsaufgabe fhren. Als ein erster Schritt in Richtung auf eine noch ausstehende Theorie der HPP wird zunchst ein berblick ber 17 HPPSysteme aus der Literatur gegeben und daraus eine Systematik dieser Systeme, Kriterien zu ihrer Beurteilung und Hinweise zu ihrer Konstruktion abgeleitet. Aufbauend auf der entwickelten Systematik stellt der Autor ein fr einen namhaften Lebensmittelhersteller konzipiertes zweistufiges HPPSystem vor. Fr die losweise Fertigung wird gezeigt, da sich die Ergebnisse eines rein linearen Planungsmodells, basierend auf den allgemein blichen "effektiven Bedarfen", i.a. nicht in einen zulssigen Ablaufplan umsetzen lassen. Zur Behebung dieser Unzulnglichkeiten wird die Verwendung des "effektiven Losgrenbedarfes" vorgeschlagen und dessen berlegenheit gegenber dem herkmmlichen Ansatz anhand einer rollenden hierarchischen Planung mit betrieblichen Daten demonstriert.
