This book presents the results for the physical and chemical characterisation of codisposal precipitates prepared from the codisposal of acid mine drainage and fly ash. The prepared high capacity ion exchange adsorbents were characterised using fundamental characterisation tools such as Xray Diffraction Spectrometry (XRD), Xray Fluorescence Spectrometry (XRF), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICPMS), Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectrometry (FTIR) and Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC). The prepared zeolitic material were also applied in toxic element removal experiments, to assess its ability to reduce the concentrations of some heavy metal ions in wastewater.
