Hind Swaraj Is Written In The Style Of A Conversation Between The Reader And The Editor. Among The Revolutionary Anarchists Gandhi Met During His Stay In London Were Damodar Vinayak Savarkar, T.S.S. Rajan, Virendranath Chattopadhyay, V.V.S. Iyer, And Dr. Pranjivan Mehta. In Fact, Hind Swaraj Is A Near-Verbatim Presentation Of GandhiS Own Conversation With Dr. Pranjivan Mehta, Revealed At A Meeting In Malikanda, Bengal, On February 21, 1940. Dr. Pranjivan Das Jagjivan Das Mehta (1864-1932) Was A Graduate Of Grant Medical College, Bombay. After Earning An M.D. From Brussels And A Barrister From London, He Returned To India In 1889. After Serving As Chief Medical Officer And Later As Diwan Of The Idar State In Gujarat, He Moved To Rangoon (Burma). When Gandhi Arrived In London In 1909, Dr. Mehta Was Coincidentally There. They Shared A Hotel For A Month. Dr. Mehta Was Nearly Five Years GandhiS Senior And Held A Deep Affection For Him. In GandhiS Own Words, He Considered Him Foolish And Sentimental. Possessing The Highest Medical And Legal Degrees Of His Time, Dr. Mehta Was A Powerful Intellectual And Logical Figure. Gandhi Considered Him A Leading Figure Among Revolutionary Anarchists. The Two Discussed The Points Of View That Became The Subject Of Hind Swaraj For Nearly A Month. Ultimately, Dr. Mehta Agreed With GandhiS Views. On August 28, 1912, While Waiting For A Ship To Rangoon At Port Said, Dr. Pranjivan Mehta Wrote To Gopal Krishna Gokhale In Hindustan, Only Rare Personalities Like Gandhi Appear On This Earth To Uplift Humanity And The Motherland. Virendra Kumar Baranwal
