El objetivo del trabajo de investigacin es historiar la localidad Altos de Jalisco y la institucin educativa colegio La Paz situada dentro de la misma comunidad, ubicadas ambas en la ciudad de Maracaibo, explicada contextualmente con los procesos regionales y nacionales del pas. Se intenta rescatar las memorias histricas, y conocer todas las dinmicas sociales que se manifiestan en un entorno comunitario. Para realizar este trabajo se utiliz la metodologa cualitativa, conjuntamente con el mtodo histrico. Tambin se emple la metdica de la historia oral, con entrevistas semiestructuradas a miembros clave de la comunidad. La historia del barrio Altos de Jalisco evidenci como se ha consolidado actualmente la comunidad, con un adecuado nivel de organizacin, obtencin de la mayora de los servicios pblicos, y un apropiado clima de convivencia e integracin entre los miembros de la comunidad. Por su parte la Unidad Educativa Colegio La Paz ha logrado tambin consolidarse como una institucin educativa de gran prestigio en Altos de Jalisco producto de su excelencia educativa, por lo cual estn afianzados los vnculos escuelacomunidad.
