Payment Option
Michael Bushnell publishes The Northeast News, an award winning, weekly community newspaper serving the Historic Northeast area of Kansas City, MO. He and his wife Christine purchased the paper in 1998 and quickly converted it from a weekly tabloid shopper to a viable community news source that serves Kansas Citys Historic Northeast community. As part of that transition, Michael tapped his extensive collection of antique Kansas City postcards and began to publish a different card each week with a brief description of the view, the postcards publisher and any personal message written by the sender. The weekly column led to Bushnells first book published in November of 2003, Historic Postcards of Old Kansas City, a compilation of cards from the first four years of postcards published in The Northeast News. Since its publication, Michael has been a guest history lecturer for the Westport Historical Society, North Kansas City Hospital, the North Kansas City Community Center, the State Historical Society of Missouri and the Kansas City Museum. Hes also led summer History Walks for the Museum and is the Community Curator for September of 2010.
