Este libro expone los principales resultados obtenidos de la evaluacin intermedia de la Estrategia de Reduccin de la Pobreza de Honduras en el perodo 20002005. Se propone una medicin alternativa de las condiciones de vida a partir de la tcnica estadstica del Anlisis de Componentes Principales Asimismo, se complemento dicho anlisis con un modelo de convergencia de vida de 16 departamentos. Los resultados obtenidos, indican que la pobreza en Honduras no est caracterizada nicamente por factores de tipo econmico, sino que cobran relevancia otros relacionados con la formacin de capital humano, las caractersticas demogrficas, el mercado de trabajo y las condiciones de habitabilidad de los hogares. Se identificaron mejoras en el indicador de necesidades bsicas insatisfechas, lo que guarda relacin con la especial atencin que la Estrategia otorga a la inversin en capital humano. El modelo de convergencia identifica un proceso de aproximacin entre los departamentos, al existir convergencia beta y sigma en todos ellos. Dicho trabajo se realiz gracias a la dedicacin y asesora de las doctoras Olga Ogando Canabal y Beatrz Rodriguez Prado mis directoras de tesis.
