The art of rug hooking, which consists of pulling dyed and cut wool fabric pieces through a backing, has typically been associated with New England, the South and Canada. Yet rugs from the American Midwest have contributed just as much to the development of the craft and its continuing popularity. The story of hooked rugs in the Midwest is a ragbag blending of romance, folklore, myth and common sense told through the colors of barns and sky, golden wheat, farm ponds, red clay, red brick, steel, glass and fountains. In this vividly illustrated history, Mary Collins Barile shakes out the dust from the Midwestern hooked rug with the vigor its unique blend of utility and imagination deserves.

I recently purchased the Handcrafted History rug from Hooked Rugs of the Midwest and I couldn't be happier! The attention to detail is evident, and it really warms up my living room. Each time guests come over, they comment on its uniqueness and beauty. Love this piece!

Not as vibrant as I hoped
I was excited to get the Handcrafted History rug, but it arrived with colors that looked a bit duller than what was shown online. The craftsmanship is nice, just wish it popped more in my living space. Still trying to see if it grows on me!

Disappointed with the size
The rug is well-made, but I should have paid more attention to the dimensions. It turned out smaller than I expected for my living room. Still, the craftsmanship from Hooked Rugs of the Midwest is impressive, just wish it fit better!

A bit pricey but worth it!
The Hooked Rugs of the Midwest handcrafted rug is stunning, but I have to admit, it was a little on the expensive side for me. Still, the quality is top-notch and it adds a wonderful touch to my home. I can't imagine my space without it now!

Nice rug, but had delivery issues
I really like the Handcrafted History rug I got from Hooked Rugs of the Midwest. It looks great in my hallway and fits perfectly. My only complaint was that the shipping took longer than expected, which was a bit frustrating. But the rug itself is lovely!
