About the Author About the Author, Bob Schaffer It seems Bob Schaffer has been putting words to paper and print most of his life. In the early 1950's, Bob had a weekly column in his hometown newspaper, The Arlington Herald, in Arlington Heights, Illinois. In the 1963, he attended the Defense Department's Information Officer's Course on David's Island off the coast of New Rochelle, New York. Bob began his career in regional trade magazines in the early 1960's with The Western Builder magazine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
