From paper folding genius Paul Jackson comes his latest book How to Think and Design in the Third Dimension. We live in a 3D world, but most threedimensional objects are designed from a series of twodimensional side elevations and plan views. This book will teach you how to think and design in the third dimension. Through 60 construction projects, you will learn how folded paper units can be joined to create beautiful 3D structures, according to the principles of threedimensional symmetry. In addition to over 80 specially commissioned photographs and 300 stepbystep illustrations, this accessible book contains QR codes or hyperlinks to 30 short videos that show a selection of the projects rotating through 360 degrees. With How to Think and Design in the Third Dimension by their side, anyone who creates in three dimensions, including designers of all specialities, sculptors, architects, engineers and craftspeople, will be able to design with a new, practical and infinitely creative language of form.

So, I thought this book would be more practical, but it leans heavily on theory. I appreciate the depth, but I’m really looking for step-by-step guides. It’s still got some good insights though!

Complex Concepts Simplified
I really enjoyed how this book simplifies complex ideas about 3D design. It’s visually appealing and the examples helped a lot. Just wish it had more real-life applications.

Great for Design Students
I picked this up for my design class, and it’s been super helpful. The theories about 3D thinking are explained well, though some parts felt a bit dense. Still, I learned a lot.

A Thought-Provoking Read
This book really opened my mind to new dimensions of design thinking. The concepts are presented clearly and engagingly, making it a pleasure to read. I've already started applying some of the ideas in my projects!

Disappointing Quality
Unfortunately, this book arrived with a damaged cover and some pages were crinkled. It made it tough to focus on the content. I hope my replacement will be in better shape. The ideas seem solid, though.
