En Mxico, toda una poca inici con el proceso de institucionalizacin que los gobiernos posrevolucionarios comenzaron en la segunda dcada del siglo XX. Una de las primeras instituciones estatales en llevar la idea de progreso a todo el territorio fue la Secretara de Educacin Pblica. Esta Institucin tena como una de sus primeras prioridades el llevar la educacin oficial a todos los rincones del pas y, en consecuencia, tuvo que generar proyectos educativos que fueran el vehculo de difusin de la ideologa hegemnica de modernidad que acompaara el desarrollo nacional. El primer gran proyecto federal en llevar formacin a los docentes rurales, homogeneizacin de planes y programas educativos, nuevos conceptos de higiene y cultura fsica, as como conocimientos sobre trabajos manuales que buscaban el desarrollo de las comunidades rurales, fue Misiones Culturales, que oficialmente inici sus labores en 1923. En este trabajo se aborda cul fue el impacto de dicho proyecto en San Luis Potos, estado al que lleg en 1924 y en 1927 y cules fueron sus huellas en la educacin rural tras su paso por dicho estado, al terminar la dcada de 1920.
