Es soll im Zeitverlauf gezeigt werden, wie aus einem einst gefeierten Dax Neuling eine staatliche Bank wurde, zu deren Rettung die Bundesrepublik Deutschland drastische Mittel ergreifen musste. Darber hinaus soll in dieser Arbeit in angemessener Weise auch auf die Beteiligten eingegangen werden. Zum Einen auf die Verantwortlichen des Dilemmas und zum Anderen auf die Beteiligten der Rettung, sowie der Neuausrichtung der Bank. In einem weiteren Teil der Arbeit soll dann anhand eines vorliegenden Dokumentes detailliert auf die erste Rettungsaktion eingegangen werden und dem Leser ein Bild davon vermittelt werden, in welcher Situation sich die deutschen Finanzinstitute im Herbst 2008 befanden. Abschlieend soll dann noch ein persnliches Resmee gezogen und ein Ausblick auf die Bankenlandschaft und deren zuknftige Entwicklung gegeben werden.
