About the Author Patricia Renard Scholes graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary. She lives in western Colorado and writes regularly for a local publication, The Beacon, in addition to writing and presenting Bible studies and retreats. Originally she intended to use her degree to become a rural pastor, but sometimes life presents delays. 'The Lord chooses where we go and what we do,' she explains. 'God told me to write, so that is what I do.' She still has a passion for rural communities, and has not ruled out serving in a rural church some day, but for now she writes and speaks locally at churches and retreats.
