On retrouve la vie de Marguerite Audoux dans ses crits. Place toute petite l'orphelinat de Bourges, elle devient fille de ferme en Sologne. Amoureuse du fils de sa patronne, elle doit renoncer son histoire et s'enfuir Paris. Elle y sera couturire et commence l'ge de quarante ans crire des pomes, rdiger ses souvenirs. La rencontre avec Michel Yell lui permet d'approcher le milieu littraire : Octave Mirbeau sera le plus farouche de ses dfenseurs. Aprs MarieClaire, elle publie L'Atelier de MarieClaire, puis De la ville au moulin, un recueil de contes, La Fiance, et enfin Douce Lumire, point final d'une oeuvre terriblement intime, sincre et douloureuse.
