Product Description Parents, have your kids ever asked you why Jesus was tortured on the cross? Who was he and why do we see him on crucifixes in churches and on necklaces? Are you looking for a devotional book that you can read with your children to explain to them how special they are to God? I Wonder Why He Had to Die? was written to address these questions. It is a book you can read for yourself or with your children and discuss what the Bible says about Jesus Christ and why he came to live on our planet more than two thousand years ago. From the Author I was inspired to write this book after returning from a field trip to Sonoma, CA with my fourth grade class at Las Juntas Elementary School in Martinez, CA. While exploring the small museum at the home of General Mariano Vallejo, one of my students paused before a large crucifix displayed in the case and asked, "Who is that and why did he have to die like that?" My student was a nine year old kid, born and raised in suburban America, and he didn't recognize Jesus or have any idea why he hung on that cross. Soon after that excursion, I began writing this book, hoping that many families would pick it up and explore the amazing story of God's relentless love for us! Short chapters with questions at the end of each, provide an opportunity for discussion between parents and kids. And when you have finished, you may even discover that that Man who was tortured and died on the Roman cross early in the first century, the Man on the crucifix, has everything to do with your life in the 21st. Check it out for yourselves.
