OVER 100 FANS SHARE MEMORIES OF ONE OF THE PIONEERS OF AMERICANAIain Matthews A Peoples History is an oral history of one of Britains leading singersongwriters. One of the founding members of folkrock pioneers Fairport Convention, Iain left the band in 1969 to further a career in music that now spans almost 60 years. He created the charttopping act Matthews Southern Comfort in 1970, who had a number one single with a cover of Joni Mitchells Woodstock, and reached No 13 on the US charts with his recording of Terence Boylans Shake It. Iain has forged his own path as one of the torchbearers for American folk and country music aka Americana. He has worked with numerous collaborators over the years, including recording and touring as Plainsong, HiFi and No Grey Faith. His critically acclaimed albums include If You Saw Thro My Eyes (1971), In Search Of Eamelia Earhart (1972) (with Plainsong) and solo albums Journeys From Gospel Oak (1974) and Some Days You Eat The Bear (1974). Iain has called The Netherlands, where he lives with his wife Marly and his daughter Luca, home for the past 20 years. He continues to tour and record.
