Jahrhunderts wird heute mit Begriffen wie Klassik", Empfindsamkeit", galanter Stil" und mit Namen wie Haydn und Mozart in Verbindung gebracht. Sicherlich fiele dem einen oder anderen auch der Name Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach ein, den wenigsten jedoch kme vermutlich der Begriff Kapitalismus" in den Sinn. Zu sehr widerstrebt dem romantischen Gemt die Vorstellung von Kunst als Ware. Dennoch es mu sein", wie Beethoven im 4. Satz seines Streichquartetts op. 135 Nr. 16 feststellte , drfen die Vernderungen der gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Strukturen dieser Zeit nicht bersehen werden, da sie als wegweisend fr die heutige Kulturindustrie angesehen werden knnen. Kapitalismus im Allgemeinen zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass fr einen Markt produziert wird und das stets mit der Absicht der Gewinnmaximierung. Das Zusammenspiel von Angebot und Nachfrage ist dabei von zentraler Bedeutung und soll auch im Zusammenhang mit Bachs Vermarktungsstrategien im Mittelpunkt stehen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll es nun konkret darum gehen anhand der Prnumerations und Subskriptionspraxis Carl Philipp Emanuel Bachs zu zeigen, welchen Einfluss konomische Interessen im letzten Drittel des 18. Jahrhunderts auf die knstlerische Produktion eines Komponisten haben konnten. Dabei soll bedacht werden, in welcher Relation dies zum Konzept der Empfindsamkeit steht.
