Es folgten die Kriegs und Nachkriegszeit mit den turbulenten Ereignissen von damals. Als Jugendlicher erlernte er das Malerhandwerk und legte als Erwachsener die Meisterprfung ab. Seit 50 Jahren ist er nun glcklich mit seiner Frau Christel verheiratet und hat zwei erwachsene Tchter und zwei Enkel.
