In der vorliegenden Studie konnte die erfolgreiche Isolierung ectomesenchymaler Zellen aus dem cornealen Limbus juveniler Muse dargestellt werden. Die hier etablierten Zellen demonstrieren Stammzellhnliche Eigenschaften und Fhigkeiten, wie Zellmigration, Proliferation, Klonogenitt und Multipotenz der Zelldifferenzierung. Darber hinaus exprimieren sie Stamm oder Progenitorzellmarker wie Notch1, Nes und Sca1. Interessanterweise wurden MCCs nur in juvenilen Musen gefunden bevor die Tiere das Entwicklungsstadium der Augenlidffnung erreichten. Die Etablierung einer neuen, stabilen, gut proliferierenden CorneaZelllinie, die auch nach extensiver Subkultivierung ihre Multipotenz der Zelldifferenzierung aufrechterhlt, erlaubt und erleichtert zuknftige Studien zur cornealen Zellbiologie oder allgemeinen Stammzellbiologie.
