Das Leben und Aufwachsen im 21. Jahrhundert vollziehen sich unter den Vorzeichen der Globalisierung. Jugendliche sehen sich stetig mit neuen Chancen und Risiken konfrontiert, die permanent Entscheidungen von ihnen verlangen. Auch die Integration in soziale Gefge wird in die Eigenverantwortung des Einzelnen gelegt. Jugendszenen, thematisch fokussierte soziale Netzwerke, sind selbst Produkte der globalisierten Lebenswelt und gewinnen fr Jugendliche zunehmend an Bedeutung. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht, inwiefern die Teilnahme an Jugendszenen den Einzelnen bei der Konstruktion seiner Identitt beeinflussen kann. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf zwei modernen Identittsstrategien: Patchwork und Otakismus. Diese werden als zwei diametral entgegengesetzte Varianten des Umgangs mit modernen und komplizierten Lebensverhltnissen betrachtet, die eine sowohl an die lebensweltlichen Umstnde als auch an individuelle Ressourcen und Bedrfnisse angepasste Art der Lebensfhrung ermglichen. Mit der OtakuIdentitt wird eine bisher weder definierte noch empirisch untersuchte Form der alternativen Identittsfindung erstmalig thematisiert.
