This is a revolutionary and powerfully argued feminist analysis of modern economics, revealing how womans housework, caring of the young, sick and the old is automatically excluded from value in economic theory. An example of this pervasive and powerful process is the United Nation System of National Accounts which is used for wars and determining balance of payments and loan requirements. The author has also written Women, Politics and Power and is a formidable force in the politics of New Zealand, serving three terms in Parliament and helping bring down a Prime Minister. She holds a doctorate in political economy and was a visiting Fellow at Harvards Kennedy School of Government.

I picked this book up after hearing about it at a conference. It opened my eyes to many issues I hadn’t considered before. Honestly, every chapter made me rethink what I knew about economics and gender. Highly recommend to students and activists!

Informative but dense at times
This book has some fantastic insights on feminist economics, but I found a few chapters to be a bit heavy. It’s not the easiest read if you’re not well-versed in economics, but I appreciated the depth. Worth a try if you're passionate about the topic!

Disappointed in the delivery
The book itself had some interesting points, but it arrived with a bent cover, which was frustrating. It’s hard to concentrate on the content when the physical book is damaged. I’ll be more careful next time I order!
