Product Description Offers various points of view regarding immigration policy in the United States From School Library Journal Gr 10 UpAn anthology of 18 articles divided equally between those in favor of limiting immigration and those for maintaining or even expanding it. The selections have been drawn from books, periodicals, newspapers, flyers, and press conference remarks. Primarily from 1993 and 1994, they are written by such individuals as Republican commentator Pat Buchanan, California governor Pete Wilson, and educator Julian L. Simon. Each one is introduced by a short biography of the author and an abstract. The texts are dense and demanding and many of the statistics are subject to different interpretations, but debaters and report writers should find the volume useful. An annotated list of organizations covering immigration is appended. This title is broader in scope than Illegal Immigration (Greenhaven, 1994) and includes materials that may be hard to locate through Readers' Guide and InfoTrac.Diane S.
