The land use characteristics of Savar Pourashava are being changed and gradually being invaded by nonresidential uses like commercial, industrial, institutional etc. The economic activities are promoted changes in the uses and intensity of uses of this area. This is resulted the more demand for new spaces for new urban activities. The development is mostly occurred beside the roads especially on Savar Bazar Road. The more the road side commercialization, the less the transportation performance of the road is occurred and created enormous problems like congestion , inaccessibility , accidents, discomfort, noise and nuisance, pollution and ugliness, parking, speed and so on. If geometric elements of the road are made in such a way that provide effective intermodal access and control haphazard expansion of commercial places adjacent to the roadside then it will make development more livable in the future. Therefore in this study, it is tried to investigate the transportation performance of this road due to roadside commercialization. Some recommendations are also provided to improve the transportation performance in the study area.
