New American Schools (NAS) was established in July 1991, as a private, nonprofit corporation funding school reform at the elementary and secondary levels. RAND, in its ongoing role as evaluator of the NAS initiative, has conducted a wide range of studies in an effort to better understand the effects of NAS reform efforts on student outcomes. This book provides a detailed analysis of school and district progress toward adopting NAS designs, including demographic descriptors, survey results and performance outcomes.
