Chr. schrieb Dexippus einen Kommentar in drei Buchern zu Aristoteles' Kategorien und versuchte mit dieser Schrift, die Einwande Plotins gegen die Lehre des Aristoteles zu widerlegen. Sein Kommentar ist uns in Form eines Gesprachs zwischen ihm und einem Schuler uberliefert. In seinen Ausfuhrungen verwendet Dexippus die Kommentare des Iamblichus und des Porphyrius. Der hier nachgedruckte Kommentar wurde in der Renaissance des 16. Jahrhunderts mit dem Titel In defensionem praedicamentorum Aristotelis adversus Plotinum von Johannes Bernardus Felicianus ubersetzt, der durch seine feinsinnige Kritik des dem Eustratius zugeschriebenen Kommentars zu Aristoteles' Ethik (CAGL 11) bekannt ist.
