In 'God's Lap' is a compilation of columns on Cache Valley history by the late A.J. Simmonds, curator of Special Collections and Archives at Utah State University. This book is a publication of The Herald Journal newspaper in Logan, Utah, which ran Simmonds' weekly column, 'Looking Back,' over a 20year period from 1975 to 1995. The 142 columns presented here were selected by Herald Journal editor/staff writer Darrell Ehrlick in cooperation with Simmonds' wife, Jeannie. They cover a wide range of topics out of the valley's early years, from its most celebrated events to its darkest chapters and a lot in between.
