Cultural Writing. Poetry. This book explores our complicated interactions with the images, and memories of death. The book includes photographs, artwork and texts by professional and nonprofessional artists and touches on aspects of the very substance and frailty of human life as it passes while exploring both the diversity as well as the common threads in our experiences of death. Todd Herman has done a wonderful job with this subject. The book will spark a dialogue about issues that are too often avoided Elizabeth Westrate, Producer and Director of A Family Undertaking.

‘In Passing’ is such a beautifully written book! The author’s insights on death are so raw and real. I’ve shared it with my book club, and everyone has enjoyed discussing it together. It’s definitely worth a read.

Gave It As A Gift
I bought 'In Passing' for my brother who recently lost a close friend. He found it comforting and said it helped him process his feelings. The discussions it opened up were invaluable, so I’d call that a win!

A Mixed Bag For Me
The book had some interesting sections, but a few parts felt a bit off-topic for what I was looking for. I wanted more practical insights. Still, it sparked some good conversations with friends.

Thought-Provoking Read
I picked up 'In Passing' because I wanted to understand more about death from different perspectives. The writing is beautiful and engaging, really made me reflect on life. I think it would be a great gift for anyone facing loss.

Not What I Expected
Honestly, I thought this book would be more about coping strategies. It felt more like a collection of essays that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I’m rating it a 2 because I struggled to connect with the content.
