El trabajo analiza las transformaciones sociopolticas en los municipios rurales de Bolivia tras la implementacin de la Ley de Participacin Popular que inicia un proceso de descentralizacin y reconfigura el quehacer de la vida poltica local. Se muestra el proceso sociopoltico en la Bolivia rural desatado en la dcada de los noventa con la ley 1551 que permiti el surgimiento de nuevos actores polticos que daran un brinco del mbito local al nacional en la posterior dcada. Este trabajo fue presentado como tesis de maestra del Magister en Estudios Polticos y Sociales Latinoamericanos de la Universidad Alberto Hurtado en Santiago de Chile el ao 2004.
