La presente tesis doctoral propone un acercamiento a aquellos mitos que surgieron de los glidos pueblos del atlntico, los pueblos del Norte de Europa, de modo que podamos reflexionar en torno a su presencia en el mundo literario contemporneo. El objetivo del presente estudio es demostrar, mediante relaciones intertextuales, la pervivencia de los antiguos mitos germnicos en la literatura juvenil actual, tomando como referente uno de los ciclos heroicos ms importantes de la literatura medieval escandinava, a saber, el ciclo heroico de Sgurd, donde se gesta la leyenda de los niflungos, los nibelungos de la tradicin alemana. Dicha propuesta ha sido fundamentada filolgicamente a travs del anlisis morfolgico de Vladimir Propp, del que se extraen las conclusiones pertinentes. Adems de la reflexin terica y la revisin bibliogrfica, se incluye una propuesta de programacin didctica sobre el mito propuesto a fin de que el lector juvenil adquiera una mayor competencia literaria sobre el mito y el folklore de origen germnico mediante las estrategias comunicativas planteadas en los procesos de recepcin e interpretacin de los textos literarios.
