Hervorgerufen wird diese Reaktion durch den in dem Oviduktsekret enthaltenen Elicitor. Gezeigt wird, dass Kiefern aufgrund von spezifischen Elicitoren in den Oviduktsekreten der Blattwespenweibchen auf die Eiablage reagieren.
