Der vorliegende Band dokumentiert, ergan t um emlge nachtraglich hinzugenommene Arbeiten, die Beitrage zu einer Tagung, die im Januar 1990 am Wissenschaftlichen Zentrum "MenschUmweltTechnik" der Gesamt hochschule Universitat Kassel unter dem Titel "Industrialism us und Okoromantik Geschichte und Perspektiven der Okologisierung" durch gefiihrt wurde. Mit ihm wird beabsichtigt, einem breiteren Publikum einen Einblick in das Laboratorium des gegenwartigen okologischen Diskurses zu verschaffen. Es solI gezeigt werden, welche Problemstellungen die hier engagierte Wissenschaft bewegen, welches ihre erkenntnisleitenden Interessen sind, wo die inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte derzeit gesetzt werden, welche Trends sich identifizieren lassen und welche Aufgaben fiir die Zukunft des okologischen Diskurses gesehen werden. Dabei werden nicht nur unterschiedliche Interessenlagen, Ziel und Schwerpunktsetzungen sichtbar, sondem auch ausgewachsene Kontroversen und Spannungen, und ich meine, daB gerade in der Dokumentation dieser Konflikte und Ver werfungen im okologischen Diskurs der besondere Reiz und Lehrreichtum dieses Tagungsbandes besteht. Seine Lektiire bietet keine einfachen Identifikationsmoglichkeiten, sondem fordert dazu auf, eigene Uberlegungen anzustellen und Positionen zu erarbeiten. Dazu werden zahlreiche Orientie rungshilfen angeboten. In diesem Sinne handelt es sich hier um ein Arbeitsbuch im besten Sinne: Eine unentbehrliche Hilfe bei der Suche nach einer eigenen "okologischen Ortsbestimmung" zu einer Zeit, deren vielbeschworene "neue Uniibersichtlichkeit" weniger auf die Tatsachen zuriickzufiihren ist, als auf die geistigen Instrumente, mit denen diese Tatsachen betrachtet, interpretiert, konstituiert und veriindert werden.
