Informal Beauty explores the photographic works of Paul Nash (18891946), one of the most significant British artists of the 20th century. Best known for his evocative paintings of warravaged landscapes and his quasiSurrealist visions of the English countryside, Nash was also a consummate photographer, who believed that the camera could reveal aspects of the world that the painter could not. Beginning in 1930, he regularly experimented with photography, working with a No. 1A pocket Kodak series 2 camera. Including a highly informative contextual essay by Simon Grant, Informal Beauty explores the experimental nature of Nashs output and the intensity and power of his photographic vision.

I bought this for my dad who loves photography. The quality is impressive, and it looks elegant on his shelf. He was thrilled! The only downside was that it took a bit longer to arrive than expected, but it’s a lovely addition.

A Mixed Bag of Photography
This book has some stunning images by Paul Nash, but a few of the photos felt repetitive. I appreciate the effort, and the print quality is solid, but I was hoping for a broader variety of scenes. Still worth a flip through!

As a fan of Paul Nash, this collection is a treasure! The photographs beautifully capture his unique perspective. The hardcover is also a nice touch. I can't wait to showcase it at my upcoming book club!

Disappointed in the Print Quality
Honestly, I was looking forward to this book, but I found the print quality not as great as I expected. Some images seemed blurry, which was a letdown since photography should be crisp. Wouldn’t recommend for serious collectors.
