This practical new guide is designed to help school officials put students and staff with learning disabilities on a level playing field with everone else, in computer labs, in libraries, and in classrooms. Rather than merely focusing on specific types of hardware and software, the authors discuss how to set up the infrastructure necessary to provide technology and support. They cover computer access issues, as well as the use of computerbased compensatory tools speical adaptive technology designed to enable individuals with disabilities to participate more independently in the academic environment. This book will serve as an excellent guide for college and university administrators, computer lab staff, librarians, disabled student services staff and faculty members.

I was disappointed with this book. I thought it would cover more practical applications, but it felt more theoretical, and I found it hard to relate to my work. Maybe it’s just not for me, but I expected more relevant examples.

Useful but a bit dense
This book has a lot of good information about technology in education, but I found some sections a bit hard to get through. It’s definitely a resource I’ll keep on my shelf, but I wish it was more reader-friendly. Still, worth checking out if you’re in higher ed.

Great Resource for Educators
I bought this book from the Oryx Press series for my college courses, and it has been incredibly informative. The insights on adaptive technology really help me understand how to support my students better. Highly valuable for anyone in higher education!
