Das managermagazin betitelte die Analysten sogar als Die Zunft der Blindgnger'. Einerseits richtet sich die Kritik an die Kurs und Gewinnprognosen, welche oft so nicht erreicht werden, andererseits an die Informationen, die Analystenreports beinhalten. Daher soll in dieser Arbeit erst mal erlutert werden, welche Funktionen die Analysten auf dem Kapitalmarkt haben, und welche Verfahren sie zur Analyse, Prognose und Empfehlung anwenden. Im Folgenden wird die Frage nach dem Grad der Informationseffizienz gestellt, die am Kapitalmarkt vorherrscht, um zu klren, ob es durch technische oder fundamentale Analyse berhaupt mglich ist, qualifizierte Prognosen abzugeben bzw. dadurch berrenditen zu generieren. Da sich auf diese Frage kein abschlieendes Urteil fllen lsst, wird im Folgenden betrachtet, inwieweit die von Analysten getroffenen Prognosen und Empfehlungen realisiert werden. Der Informationsgehalt von Analystenreports lsst sich aber nicht nur auf Prognosefhigkeiten der Analysten beschrnken, sondern auch aus ihrer Rolle als Informationsintermedir, der neue Informationen den Investoren bereitstellt. Hauptindiz fr den Inhalt neuer Informationen sind Kursreaktionen, die durch die Verffentlichung von Analystenreports bedingt sind. Diese Frage soll anhand zahlreicher empirischer Studien errtert werden. In der Praxis werden verschiedene Systeme zur Performancemessung und zur Erstellung von Analystenrankings angeboten.
