Dieses Lexikon soll Aufschlu ber die Bedeutung von Abkrzungen (u.a. Akronymen, Buchstabensymbolen) und Metaphern in Informatik und Umfeld geben, die in dem Bereich besonders zahlreich auftreten. Insbesondere fr Informatik sowie Normung und Standards der Informatik bzw. der Informations technik (IT) soll es Beobachtern, Beteiligten und Betroffenen (als Zielgruppen) ntzliche Hilfe bieten, sich in dem Wirrwarr zurechtzufinden. Die Orientierung einer derartigen Arbeitshilfe an Abkrzungen und Wortmeta phern als Stichwrtern bringt natrlich eine Filterwirkung mit sich, insofern son stige Termini nicht erfat sind (von wenigen Ausnahmen abgesehen). Sie ist keine Empfehlung zu rcksichtsloser Verwendung von Abkrzungen oder Metaphern, sondern eine Hilfe zu deren Verstndnis und dem, was sich dahin ter verbirgt. Zwischen Krze und Verstndlichkeit seiner Texte mu jeder selbst abwgen, kontextund situationsabhngig. Zielgruppen und gegenseitige Durchdringung von Fachwelt und Normungs weit erforderten Einbeziehung sehr unterschiedlicher Gegebenheiten, fr de ren Auswahl ein Profil angestrebt wurde, das auch zugehrige Institutionen, Vereinigungen und rechtliche Bestimmungen bercksichtigt. Es wurden Stichwrter aufgenommen, die einem in Fachoder Management texten begegnen. Die Aufnahme bestimmter Abkrzungen oder Metaphern besagt also noch nicht, da sie normgerecht wren. Es wurden auch solche Stichwrter bercksichtigt, die wohl in keiner Norm enthalten sind, wenn ihre Gegenstnde in der fach oder normungsbezogenen Diskussion eine Rolle spielen, wie AGB, BDSG, BVB, GATT, GI, IFIP, MITI, OECD, OSF, UrhG, SPAG, X/Open, oder auch nur negativ darin vorkommen, wie das altbackene EDV. In ITNormen enthaltene Abkrzungen sind keineswegs vollstndig erfat, sondern im allgemeinen nur dann, wenn ihnen nicht ausschlielich eine lokale Bedeutung zukommt.
