This comprehensive handbook, acclaimed when it was first published in 1976 as one of the most useful reference manuals on diagnostic entomology yet produced, has now been completely revised and expanded to reflect recent advances in technology and the wealth of new information affecting the Green Industry. Augmented by 241 fullcolor plates, it gives the essential facts about more than 900 species of insects, mites, and other animals that injure woody ornamental plants in the United States and Canada, and provides means of quick visual identification of both the pests and the damage they cause.

Honestly, I was a bit let down by this guide. I expected more in-depth info on the life cycles of the insects. It’s okay for a quick reference but didn’t meet my needs as an avid gardener.

Great for Identifying Tree Pests
I bought this guide on insects that feed on trees and shrubs, and it's been super helpful! The illustrations are clear and make it easy to identify the different pests. I’ve used it to save some of my favorite plants!

Useful but Lacks Depth
This book is a decent starter for anyone looking to understand pests on trees and shrubs. It covers the basics well, but I wish it had more detailed information on treatment options. It’s a good reference, though.

Nice Guide but Not Comprehensive Enough
I found this guide on tree and shrub pests helpful, but it could use more species. The pics are nice, but I expected a bigger variety of insects covered. Still, it’s useful for quick checks in the garden.
