Immer spielt die Vernderung der Rolle von Nationalstaaten in einem sich zunehmend europisierenden System politischer Entscheidungen eine gewichtige Rolle. Auch wenn kein wissenschaftlicher Konsens ber die neue Rolle" der Nationalstaaten in der Europischen Union besteht, ist diese Vernderung jedoch mageblich durch eine Verlagerung bestimmter Kompetenzen und Aktivitten von der nationalstaatlichen auf die europische Ebene gekennzeichnet. Vor dem Hintergrund dieser Vernderungen hat sich auch die Struktur der Interessenvertretung innerhalb Europas grundlegend gewandelt. Aufgrund der stetig zunehmenden Verlagerung von Gesetzgebungskompetenzen auf die europische Ebene, ist Brssel fr eine gezielte Interessenvertretung heute unerlsslich geworden. Professionelle Interessenvertretung im europischen Raum findet daher nicht mehr vorwiegend auf nationalstaatlicher, sondern auf europischer Ebene statt. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass gegenwrtig mehr als 15.000 Lobbyisten in Brssel ansssig sind, um ihre partikularen Interessen zu vertreten. In den vergangenen Jahren hat sich die Europische Union (EU) damit zur weltweit zweitgrten Lobbyindustrie entwickelt. Hinzu kommt, dass sich auch die Akteursstruktur der Interessenvertretung grundlegend verndert hat. Es fand bzw. findet ein grundlegender Wandel vom Korporatismus zum professionellen Lobbyismus statt.
