Vor allem im wirtschaftlichen Bereich nehmen im Zuge der Internationalisierung die Kontakte zu Menschen aus anderen Kulturen zu. Um in solchen interkulturellen Begegnungen erfolgreich handeln und die gewnschten Ziele erreichen zu knnen, ist eine Sensibilisierung fr die fremde Kultur unerlsslich. Alexander Thomas, ein bedeutender Vertreter der interkulturellen Managementforschung, hat Trainingsmethoden entwickelt, die durch die Vermittlung interkultureller Kommunikations und Handlungskompetenzen die Interaktion zwischen Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Kulturen verbessern sollen. Dabei geht Thomas davon aus, dass Menschen, die in unterschiedlichen Kulturen aufwachsen, sich nach unterschiedlichen Kulturstandards richten und deshalb interkulturelle Begegnungssituationen oft kritisch verlaufen. Im Folgenden mchte ich kurz die Person Alexander Thomas vorstellen, seine Thematik in unseren Zusammenhang von Kultur und Management' einnorden und einen berblick geben ber sein Verstndnis von Kultur und seinem Konzept der Kulturstandards. Anschlieend gehe ich auf die Methode ein, mit der Thomas die Kulturstandards identifiziert, welche letztlich die Grundlage fr die Konzeption der interkulturellen Trainings bilden. Zum Schluss mchte ich noch einen Bezug zur konomie herstellen und eine kritische Stellungnahme abgeben.
